FROM DOLE TO ROLE.
AVON £20,000 BY GUESSING. LONDON, Sept. 16. What the prize of £20,000 given by the Sunday Despatch for forecasting correctly twenty-four football results means to Tom Hartley .may be • judged from the fact that he is; an unemployed loom sweeper, and has been frequently “on the dole” this year. Since both were eleven years of age, Hartley and his wife, except when lie was on war service, have worked side by side at- the loom, at which his wife remained while Hartley came to London to receive the cheque. The biggest sum lie had previously possessed was liis £l7 war gratuity.
