ORANGE LODGES.

SUCCESFUL SOCIAL ANL DANCE A. highly successful grand .social and dance was- conducted in tbe Assembly Hall last evening by the Combined Orange Lodges. I lie hall was prettily decorated with multicolored streamers while numerous blcoins surrounded the orchestral dais. Over 200 couples were present. In an endeavour to repopularise old time dancing. Miss Kenny and Mr Fie teller daiieed the Maxiua the exhibition being greatly appreciated, and after the couple had circled the floor once, several couples joined in until the number had to be repeated before the applause subsided.

During the evening songs were contributed by Miss Grace Clare and Messrs A. An cell and O. Edwards. a violin solo by Mr IE Pearson. and a recitation by Miss R. Bickford. Mrs Menzjes orchestra -played guv end insniring music, while Messrs ,T. J. Fletcher and H. Stubbs capably carted out the duties of M.’sO. ■ The ladies committee, comprising Medsames Stephenson, Duncan, Shears, Hanna, Nicholson, Stucky, and SmaK were in charge of the supper. Those responsible for the excellent organisation of the social and dance are Messrs ,T. J. Fletcher, -fi. Sawyer, H. Stubbs, and English.
