Much concern is felt by-the parishioners of the New Plymouth part of the Waikato diocese over x pi-shop Cherrington’s suspension of the Rev F. T. Harvie as Canon of' the Cathedral, and at .a largely-atttendeci meeting of . churchmen _ to-nignt, where considerable feeling was shown, .the following motion was carried-.: “That this meeting of _ the laity of New* Plymouth haying .learnt with deep concern of the Bisnop s action in suspending the Rev. I . lHarvie, late vicar of St: Mary s. New Plymouth, from the exercise or clerical duties within , the diocese o Waikato, desires to ascertain from his. Lordship as to wherein Mr- Harvie ; has erred, as the confidence reposed in Mr Harvie through his vicarate locally renders impossible the view that such suspension. is .'Archdeacon Evans, who supported the acti'bnr of ■ the Bishop, intimated his!'intention of ; resigning Ins position as the result o"f the .passing or the resolution. _____
