GISBORNE v. POVERTY BAY
The annual inter-Club tourney between Poverty Bay and Gisborne Clubs was played yesterday on the Poverty Bay green. Five games were played and Gisborne was successful in winning three games to their opponents two. The tourney will be continued to-morrow, when five rinks will play on the Gisborne green. Results are as follow; Duaibar, McKeaiyie, Armstrong, Stephenson (s) 27 y. Holland, Findlay, Phillips, Hartley 17 ; Hay, Stewart, Crawford, Seymour 13 v. Robertson, Andrews, Shelton, Wyatt 15; Clarke, Fai'rley, Sutton, Hueston 35 v. Colebourne, Rosie, Clare, Wilson 7 ; Behver, Nasmith, Stoneham, Robertson 30 v. Gardiner, Ross, Orviss, Bull 16; Johnstone, Cossey, Maude, Holmes 18 v. Robb, Haddock, Alexander, Falkiner 21.
GISBORNE CLUB Owing to many players being engaged in inter-club matches on the Poverty Bay green, there was only a moderate attendance yesterday at the Gisborne Club green. The results of the games,played are as follows : Ordinary games : Gandell, Primrose Harris, G. A. CraWford 21 v. Smallbone, Corson, Ormond, Sidebottom 20; Chrisp, Hammond, A. Coleman, Allan 18 v. Henderson, Hird, H. Bright, Boys 17; Muller, Adams, Halford, 17 v, Rowan, Clarkson, Craig '2O. Orr pairs: Adams, Gandell 18 v. Carson, Sinclair 25; Blah- and Watson 10 v. Plank and Armstrong 20; Barton and Stephenson 20 v. Holland and Halford 20; Thodey and Holmes 22 v. Dunbar and Nasmith 19.
Horne singles: Stephenson 26 v. Nasmith 11; Beaver 30 v._ Adair 17; Holmes 27' v. Collin 13.
Saturday is the last day for playing ,the third round of the Orr pairs and the Horne singles. ROTORUA TOURNAMENT (Press Association.) ROTORiUA, Feb. 23. The second bowling tournament opened on Monday is reaching finality. Section winners are: Section : A. Frost (pfcankton); section B; Fraser (Palmerston North); section, C, Crawford (Karori). After two ties in the B and four ties in the C, section, the semi-final between Crawford and Frost was won by the former by 23—29. The weather throughout was suiperlf and the greens very true.
