The Metropolitan Trotting Club’s meeting was held .to-day in line but threatening Aveather- The track was in fast order.

The great attraction of the day, Which probably was responsible for the very large attendance, Was. the match race between Great Bingen and Native Chief over a. mile from a flying start. The race proved, in a measure, disappointing. Native Chief misbehaved .and failed to move off four times and the horses were brbught back. Glreat Bingen displaying perfect manners-eiterv time. Ab last Native Chief decided to go and struck a. gait just at the starting line-, making a break of two lengths, which - 'he rapidlv increased to 7 ' about twenty yards. With this lead he had

the race in safe keeping, and though Great Bingen was going better at the finish and Avas sloAvly gaining ground Native Chief Avon by three lengths in 2.41-5. J. J. Kennerly drove the Avinner and D.
