On completion of discharge here the vessel loads for Lyttelton. The Katoa arrived here last night from Auckland. —Richardson and Co, Ltd.— The Pakura arrived on Saturday morning from Lyttelton and returned to Wellington with sheep. The Awabou load 3 at Auckland tomorrow’ for Tokomaru Bay and Gisborne. The Parera leaves Wellington tomorrow for Napier and Gisborne. H.M.S. Diomede, now in the roadstead, is a modern cruiser, having been launched since the Great War. She belongs to the D Class which was first laid down in 1918 and the construction of the class continued until 1922. Her tonnage is 4.650, and her main armaments are six Gin. guns, but she also has three 4in. guns, two pom-poms and 12 torpedo tubes. There arc eight vessels in the D Class, comprising the Dunedin, flagship in the New Zealand station, Danae. Dauntless. Delhi, Despatch, Dragon, and Durban. HALS. Diomede was commissioned at Portsmouth for service on October 21, 1925 as a second cruiser in the New Zealand division.
