SHOOTS SHERIFF AX'D TWO DEPUTIES. NOW AT LARGE IN THE HILLS. (Received Jan. 4. 7.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, .Jan. 3. Ben Hamilton a noted Montana desperado-, stole cattle in the week, preceding Christinas. The police spread the alarm throughout the countryside, and finally Sheriff Babcock and' two deputies V ithington and Cummings captured him in Idaho. They,- brought him back to hr-, native village, and when passing Hamilton's house he requeued permission to obtain a change of clothing. Stopping the sleigh Hamilton stepped out and a moment later reappeared with a gun, with which he bored the head of each man beioTe. again taking to the hills. Searchers found the trio dead still seated tn the sleigh.—Sun.
