BURNED TO DEATH
FOUR; CHILDREN INCINERATED
LONDON, Jan. 2. Four children, aged- from four to seventeen, were killed in a fire near Huddersfield. A cottage occupied by Haigh, a night watchman, caught fire; apparently through an accident to an oil stove. The mother - awoke and, noticing the smell of burning, ran into the bedroom and awoke the eldest, girl Elsie. While the mother was calling tho neighbours, Elsie ran into the cottage to save her-bio-ther and sisters. Later' the four charred -bodies were found , huddled together.; They had fallen from the upper room when the floor collapsed. Airs Haigh was round wandering in tho snow in a distracted condition, clad only in night . attire, badly burned tnd in a state of collapse.— A. and N.Z.C.A. . V . -
