CRITICISM: IN A WILL
Strong criticism of present-day religious beliefs is contained in yhe will of a Freemason, Afr William James Caie, of Highbury House, Westgate-street, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, a member of the town council for 20 years and a former mayor, who left £6377 with net personaltv £4183.
Air Caie directed that his Body should lip cremated and said no “socalled religious- service” was to he ( said over his remains. *■
He continued; I am profoundly / convinced that the present-day be- ‘ liefs and teaching and preaching are not only erroneous and in fact pernicious, but a blasphemy upon the Name of the Great Architect of the Universe.
He hopedMhat no one would waste any'time in praying for me as a lost soul, beeause I die perfectly happy as to my future, knowing that God. . . will forgive all my ° sins, which are many, and deal with me with me rev.
