LESS REVENUE
GISBORNE CUSTOMS AND EXCISE DUTIES.
The Customs revenue collected at the port of Gisborne during the past twelve months was over £I2,OWL less than last year, whilst beer duties were also (town over £1.400 in comparison with returns of the- previous twelve mouths. In June, 192',. the largest revenue for one month for some time Was collected. A. Total or £]S 1 73 was recorded, as against mst over £B,OOO for the next highestmonth of the venr, the reason being that a rise in duty on spirits was anticipated, resulting m heavy withdrawals from bond stores; of the £lß,ooo,spirits represent over £h.The following are the Gisborne figures for . the past year, those, for the previous year being given in paren-
