The Hoboken Clyde steamship Seneca was burned, probably beyond salvage, and two piers were destroyed at Montreal when a spectacular fire swept the waterfront. n A [any other vessels were indict from the flames liy tugs just in time. Some, however, were badly scorched and crippled. The damage is estimated at over ,£200.000.
The fire is believed to have started when a spark- from an- acetylene torch fell ugpotr the oil-covered water. One fireman was severelv burned. —A. and X.Z.C.A.
CLYDE LINER! LOST IN INFERNO
NEW YORK. Dec. 30. The great blaze on the Hoboken waterfront caused total damage close on £1,000,000. Roaring flames devastated two blocks on the waterfront, and transformed the Clyde liner Seneca into an. inferno. The vessel became a total loss. Y‘
