TASMAN FLIGHT
FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MAY PREVENT ATTEMPT y
MACHINE UNSUITABLE (Received Dec. 31, 1 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Dec. 30.
Steps are' being taken to prevent Messrs Moncrieff andl Knight’s flight to New Zealand. *
Mr Bruce stated to-night that he disapproved! of the flight, as in the opinion of experts the machine was unsuitabiei. He had been in communication with Mr Coates, who stated that the New Zealand Air Board also expressed the opinion that a more suitable type of machine was desirable.—U.P A.
The strictest secrecy was being observed in regard to flight hut it was anticipated that there was a likelihood of the “Aotearo'a” hopping off from Sydney this week-end. The aviators were to endeavour to strike. iNtew Zealand near New Plymouth using Mount Egriiout as their landmark.
