SALE OF TOAYX SECTIONS
On January 17, 188-5, a sale of town sections in Whataupoko Block - was held.
In Block A J. B. Poynter paid tlie highest price for section 17 C2 pen lies upset £SO amount bid £IOB. Captain Tucker paid £72 for section 21. Air. Baraclough purchased .several sc - tions for £49, against, an upset rental of £2O. Other buvers in the block were Alo.ssr.s-. Bailey, Houghton, Poniard, Matthews, Freer, Hare, Pone and Harris, the lowest figure being £27 for a section valued at upset at £l7 10s.
In Block B the upset value was for the most part £l-5 per quarter acre section. They fetched from £l6 n £37 which price was paid by Air. If. Clayton for section 54. Other purchasers. weie: Messrs. In Block C the upsets ranged from £2O to £25, with an occasional one at £3O. The highest price realised was £36, being given by Air. T. Gibson f<-•• sections 6,7, 8, - 9 and 10, each 1 rood 34 porches, and the lowest £2<‘, the upset. Other buyers were J. Robb, B. C. Fryer, Hird, S.. Boyd, Alatthe-.vs. H. Clayton, J. Trimmer, and IT. Bull. Some sections in this block failed to find nurchasers. The sections in Block D were rf much larger extent. Air. J. Craig gave £126 (upset £110) for sec-tin-. 36, 5 acres 1 rood. Yalues ranged -it about £3O per acre. Other purchasers were: Messrs. O’Meara, J. Glhs~a. I. C. Taylor. Poynter. C. Yv. Ferris. J. AY. Matthews, Tiitclien, Baraclough, deLautour. Other sections were passed in.
