MONTHLY MEET.ING 'J'hq usual monthly meeting of the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday afternoon, when Mr U. F. Forster presided over an attendance of thirteen members. Mr T. K. Sidey acknowledged the Chamber’s congratulations on the passing of the Summer 'lime Hill- “ Many thanks for your valuable support”. Mr Sidey -stated, “notwithstanding the opposition of your memlie r.” Regarding the Chamber s move to have the old maize duty restored, it was decided that the thanks of the Chamber be extended to Messrs- G. tV. Ivells and G. Witters, for their work at Wellington in this connection. ~ . The Poverty Bay A. and P. Association acknowledged receipt of a donation of £2. 2s by , tho Chamber to its prize fund. Two letters wore received in regard to the 'suggested alteration of the boundaries of the Auckland, Hawke’s Bhy and Gisborne Land Districts, the Land Registry Districts and the judicial boundary. The Minister for Lands Stated that it was not intended to re-open the matter. The Hon. Iv. S. intimated that he would discuss the matter with the Minister for Lands.. — The Chamber deferred further action until this. consultation, should liave ; taken place and the result be known.
