HIDE AND SHEEPSKIN SALE .■REPORT, Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co., Wellington, report under date Oct. 14: At to-day’s sale wo offered a fair catalogue of sheepskins, hides, and tallow. Dry sheepskins were, if anything, firmer than last sale; crossbred salteds sold well up to .-(.cent rates, while sound half and three quarter bred • skins were very keenly sought after and advanced li.Uj v shilling a skin. All hides-showed an advance of from a halfpenny to one penny per pound; sound calfskins advanced one penny to one penny halfpenny. Tallow was slightly easier.

Consequent on a succession of heavy entries, particularly in the fat sections of istock, values"were easier at the Addington market to-day. 'Over 1000 fat sheep came from the North Island, besides over 100 head of cattle, and lines of both sheep and cattle from Southland. Store -sheep.—Mostly wethers out of the wool formed the entry. The lower reserves fixed by vendors were responsible*-' for a better clearance. Values were practically unchanged'. Good failing mouthed ewes and lambs made 15s to 17s 2d : inferior ewes and lambs 12s to 13s; aged halfbved ewes and lambs 14s to 16s 4d; cull aged ewes and lambs 8s 3d to 8s Gel; sottnd mouthed shown ewes aud lambs 14s to 16s 7d; 2 and 4-th half bred wethers 29s to 31s; inferior 2 and 4-th wethers 26s to 28s : sound mouthed crossbred wethers 29s 3d; 4 and; 6-th shorn wethers 20s to 22s 42(1: inferior shown wethers los 9d to *l7s; crossbred wether hoggets 24s 2d; crossbred ewe hoggets 33s 6d. Spring lambs—There was a small, entry of 168, a small number for the needs of butchers. Values jumped up mi last week by 3s 6d a head on the preceding sale when there was a- glut. Best lambs made from 31s to 335, and light weights from 2os to 295. Fat sheep.—There was a heavier entry which included about- 1500 outside sheep, a fair proportion shorn. .Wethers were easier by up to Is 6d a- head, but ewes about maintained recent values. Extra prime woolly wethers made to 53s 7d: .prime wethers 44s Gd to 495; medium wethers 33s to 435; light wethers 35s to 37s 6d; prime shorn wethers 35s to 42s Id: medium shorn wethers 27s to 33s ; extra prime woolly ewes to 47s 7d; prime owes 37s 6d to 43s 6d: medium ewes 33s to 37s : light owes 25s to 325; prime shorn owes 28s to 33s lOd; medium shorn ewes 22s Gd to 27s 6d. Fat cattle.—There was a smallei entry, comprising 475 head. The market was down on last week by up to 20s a head. Best beef made from 41s to 44s per lOOlb., medium 36s to 40s, heavy beef 34s to 36s 6d, ordinary cow beef 30s to 32s 6d, and rough down to 27s 6d. Vealers.-—Good vealers made £o to £6; medium £3 to £4. los; others 10s to 355: small calves 4s to 10s. Store cattle.—A line of 4 and 5-yr station steers in backward condition sold at £8 16s. There was a, good demand for all classes. . Cows made from £2 5s to £5 ss. Dairy cattle were of inferior quality mid - hard of sale. Best second to fourth culvers made £7 10s to ,ClO ss; others- £3 to £o ; springing heifers £3 to £6 10s. Fat pigs were slightly easier. WESTFIELD YA RDS. AUCKLAND. Oct. 19. At Westfield sale there was an average yarding of cattle. While in the early stages of the Sale values were inclined to be easier, they improved as the side progressed, and the average, must bo quoted at late rates. Extra cl)bice ox sold to 30s per 1001 b., choice and prime 2~s to 295, just killable 23s ,tq 255, prime young cow and heifer beet 24s to 20s, just Idllable 21s to 235.
