LON DON. Get. IS. Tiic Daily News’ Palermo correspondent reports that inside a huge iron cage the Assize (Court, guarded by scores of carabineers, sat to try 153 Sicilian brigands, headed by the notorious old Ferrareilo, with his, private gang or 59 and the remnants ot other gangs. The prisoners include a doctor, an engineer, two priests, and seven women. including the aged Queen of Gangi, who is the mother of five ol the "prisoners named Andaloro. Brigands have ruled the interior for 50 years, Ferrareilo disputing .for the chieftainship with Palazzolo until a jealous brother-in-law knired anu murdered Palazzolo. The clean-up was due. to the energy of the new Fascist prefect. Determined to re-establish . a reign of law he captured the .outht after four months’ seige. Sixtv lawyers have been engaged for the defence, and a three months’ trial is anticipated.—Sun.
