SHIPS COLLIDE
TORRINGTON BADLY HOLED. BEACHED WHEN SINKING. (Received August 31. 7.10 p.m.) LONDON. Aug. 31. The Beltana and the Torrington were proceeding together down the Gravesend reach when the iormer struck and cub in halves a small motor boat which had broken down. Its sole occupant jumped into the river and was rescued by a tug. The Beltana then swung, ann rs a result the Torrington was holed and benched in a sinking condition. Tim Beltana was able to proceed on Iter voyage to Australia. —A.N.Z.C.A.
