REPAYING DEBTS
BANK OF FRANCE’S ACTION. GOLD FOR STABILISATION. (United Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received April 6, 9.30 p.m.) PARIS, April 6. It is reported that the Bank ot England has accepted the. offer of M. Moreau, Governor of the Bank of France, for the prompt payment of £33,000/000, being the balance of an advance of £55,000,000, and the restoration by the Bank of England of £18,003,000 of gold deposited as security. Therefore, it is presumed that the Bank of France is anxious to repay the debt earlier than was arranged, and to recover One gold in order to strengthen the financial position preparatory to stabilisation in France. —A.N.Z.C.A.
