BIG BLAZE AT WELLINGTON. THREE! HOUSES DESTROYED. .MUCH DAMAGE" BY WATER. ' WELLINGTON, April 5. A destructive fire occurred in The Terrace, Wellington, at midday at the upper end of Abel Smith street, three houses Being razed and one damaged by smoke and water. Lhe outbreak started in an empty 13roomed house owned by Mr A. Shiro. The (lames spread to the adjoining premises of Mr A. C- Gcddes. The insurances are not available. Hie brigade, 'finding it impossible to save these, turned its attention to saving an adjoining row of cottages. The first of these was gutted and practically all the furniture lost. The premises were owned and occupied by Mr W- Ambuery, whose furniture was insured for £IBO in the State office Hie next house .owned and occupied by Mr W. AVearne was damaged by smoke and water. It was insured for £3OO, and the furniture for £2OO. The furniture of the adjoining houses was removed meanwhile" by willing hands.—P.A. Be prepared.
