AMERICAN FEDERATION OF LABOR! VIEWS PROFOUND SYMPATHY WITH RUSSIAN MASSES NEW~YORK. Oct. 13, At the convention of the American Federation of Labor at Detroit resolutions were passed advocating the diplomatic recognition of Russia by the United States Government, expressing “full agreement, with Mi Codlidge in holding that American principles must be unliartered . disapproving the proposed Labor commission of investigation to Russia, and extending “profound sympathy with the masses of , the People of Russia in their moral political, and' spiritual enslavement.” _ The Committee stated- “We regard the Soviet regime as the most unscrupulous, most anti-social _ and .most. menacing institution of t.,e whole world to-day.” After a heated debate.the convention rejected two resolutions urging modification of the United States im. migration laws to permit the admission of aliens seeking refuge from “political .. and religious persecution.”—A. and' N.Z.O.A.
