EXCITEMENT’ AT LIVERPOOL.
THIEF CHASED BY CROWD' THROUGH STREETS.
FOUR MEN WOUNDED. (United Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received October 14, 7.35 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 18. A man entered the Bank of Liverpool and held up the- staff with a revolver, and when the cashier at- • tempted to prevent him taking the silver from the counter he fired. The cashier was seriously wounded. The thief dashed into the street, pursued by the manager, calling “Stop! Thief!”' A crowd, joined in the chase, and the thief fired point blank at tw r o men, who were both wounded. A policeman, who attempted to fell him with a baton, was also Wounded. Eventually the man was arrested. Examination showed that only a few shillings were stolen. —A. and N.Z.C.A.
