ALLEGED FRUIT COMBINE
SENSATION IN BRITISH COLUMBIA VANCOUVER. Jan. 26. After 307 jurors and S6l talesmen had been called, approximately 900 of whom responded, a jury was chosen to-day to hear the charges brought by the Government against eleven individuals and 42 fruit firms of Western Canada, alleging a combine conspiracy. Counsel for the defence exercised 586 challenges out of a possible 636 Defendants had previously pleaded not guilty. The trial is likely to be prolonged and the most sensational in the history of British Columbia.—Reuter.
