“THIEVES IN OUR MIDST”
Information has come to hand that a large party of thieves and rascals is to visit Gisborne during the coming race week, and in the interests of the public it is desirable to let their advent be broadcasted. Other towns have ah’eady been visited, but, up to the presentj no action has been taken by the authorities. The. operations of these characters usually occur at night, but, occasionally, the afternoon has seen them at their work. The numbers of the garg can easily bef identified, as some are remarkably tall, while others are scarcely four, feet high. Another peculiar thing: is that of the whole of the numbers fully two-thirds arc ladies, all very pretty. It is known that the police have actually seen these robbers at work, but have failed to 6heet home any crimes. Possibly the force at Gisborne may be able to do something ip the matter, thpugh-• the-, robbers' • themselves say it-' is impossible .' to check their successful ’■ career. Anyone wishing to have a close-up view .qf; these ■-.thieves and rascals” should jnot fail tb visit the OjScrd House .during season "of the®, Stanley McKay. .Co<; : . .Monday,'. February 1.. Seats may be reserved at Tattersfill and Bayly’s.' ;•'
