The weather was line and the wicket good for the last Sheffield Shield match of the season, Victoria versus New South Wales. Victoria batted first and made 230 (Ponsford 79, Ryder 49, Baring 70, Liddicutt 28). Bowling, Mailey took 2 for 95, Everett 4 for 57, Macartney 2 for 43, Kelleway 1 for 40. Stumps were then drawn. With the exception of Ponsford, Ryder and Baring, who played good forceful cricket, the. game was of tho slowish order. A feature of the day was the performance of the bowler Everett, who kept the batsmen guessing throughout. At one time his average was 3 for 25.—U.P.A.

Heavy rain fell over night, making the wicket on the soft side. The not out men, Blamires (1) and A. W. Alloo <l,l faced the bowling of McGirr and Brice. Blamires scored nine off McGirr’s first over. Both batsmen played carefully, only an occasional single coming in the nest halt dozen overs. Badcock relieved McGirr at 97 and the century was recorded after GO minutes’ plat-. McLeod then replaced Badccck who went on at the other end in place of Brice. Alloo drove the new bowler to the boundary, the ball landing between two fieldsmen on the boundary.
