(Special to the Times.) * AUCKLAND*, Jan. 1. The summer meeting of the Auckland Hacing Club was continued today in windy weather, with several slight summer showers. There was a good attendance and the course was ui excellent order. Chairman was the only defection from the Ellerslie Handicap and Mosaic carried just over £7OO more than Golden Autumn, while Miss Vera and Wcnday were also sought after. Golden Autumn was the first to showout from Nucleus. Along the back the order was Golden Autumn, Hangawero, Nucleus, Miss Vera, AValtzer and Mosaic. Nucleus was in front entering the straight, with Mosaic, Golden Autumn, Miss Vera' Monday and Quincoma next. Mosaic then drew (jilt +o win by three-quarters of a length from 'Miss Vera, who beat Monday by a neck. Nucleus, Curraglnnore, Archeno, Homai, Appellant and Hangawera were next. A U-went to the post lor the Midsummer Hand.map with tlic exception of Marchaway. Sea town was entrustorl with over £9OO more tliftn xiclorij while Decoy Bird and Ngawati were next fancied. Star Stranger was over twice as good a favorite as Mandane, while the bracket, Mask and The Thorn, was next fancied. Aberfeldy was first to show out from Mandane and these two led along the straight from The Thorn and Mask (together), King Lu, Star Area, Beacon Light, Star Stranger, Diogenes and Queen Arch. An enquiry being held into the fall of Peshwa in the Havelock Flying Handicap. The finding was that Griffiths fell through the crowding of the horses and their coming on to the heels of his mount Griffith attached no blame to any other riders.
