The bulk of the estate of the late Frank Munsey, unoincially estimated at lox-ty million dollars, goes to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in this city. Under the terms of the wilL filed to-day, the trustees are given five years or more to dispose of the newspapers as well as ins other property and business interests.—A. and N.Z. C.A.
JOY-STICK DEVICE A PATENT PARIS, Deo. 31.
The Supreme Court lias decided that the joystick device for controlling the wings and the rudder of an aeroplane is a protected patent, the property of Monsieur Esnauit Pelte ns. It is expected attempts will be made to collect royalties irom foreign countries.
SEQUEL TO EXPLOSION IN MEXICO.
NEW YORK, Dec. 30
A message from Eagle Pass (Texas) states that forty-two bodies, many badly mangled, were brought out of the Mexican national railway coal mine at Palan (State of Coahilla), where an explosion occurred. Other dead are believed to be in the mine. —Reuter.
TUTANKHAMEN’S COFFIN FOR PUBLIC EXHIBITION. (Received Jan. 1, 10.50 p.m.) LUXOR, Dec. 31. Eight men, accompanied by an armed guard, carried Tutankhamen s golden coffin to the railway station, where it was entrained for Cairo, where it will be exhibited in public. —Sun.
DISLOYAL REDS PUNISHED. (Received Jan. 1> 10.35 p.m.) PARIS, Dec. 31. M. Oachin, leader or the Communists, and M. Doriot Communist deputy were sentenced each to thirteen months’ imprisonment and fined 30UU francs, and several others were imprisoned on charges of inciting soldiers to disobedience _in Morocco.
