SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS ASSN.

ANNUAL MEETING

The seventh annual meeting of the South African Veterans’ Association was held in the Liberty Hall last night, Mr. J. B. Povnter presiding over an attendance of twenty-five members.

The anrual report was unanimously adopted. Correspondence of a lengthy nature was also dealt with, amongst which was a letter from the private secretary of His Excellency the GovernorGeneral, in which he stated +v, "-t on His Excellency’s visit to Gisborne early in the New Year he hoped to have the opportunity of meeting the members of the Association. The date of the annual re-union was left to the executive to arrange, but to be held sometime during February next.

- A vote of thanks to the outgoing officers was carried by acclamation, flattering remarks. 7 being made with, reference to the work of the lion, secretary. The following officers were elected : • President, Mr. J. Hurrey; vicepresident'!. Mr. IV. Taylor and Dr. W. A. Bowie; hon. recretary and treasurer, Mr. J. V. Scott; executive, Messrs. Hughes, Stokes. F. Parker, J. McLoughlin. A. McLachlar, Pnscoe, Harriss. 'Campbell, Breingan; hon. auditor. Me ,T> H. Fa ram: n\nte to the Dominion executive. Wellington, Rev. Cannon A. H. Compton .

The. members then adjourned to the supper room and the rest of the evening was snort in sore and story.
