McCann riding on the thirty minute murk, won yesterday’s round Mount Egmout cycle- - race, by a comfortable margin'. FIFTY MILE NORTH ISLAND ROAD CHAMPIONSHIP

To-day is tlie last day on winch entries will he received in connection with the 50-mile North Island road championship, to be held on Tnursdav. November 12, by the Allies Cycle and Athletic Club. Entries received from outside riders already are very encouraging. The best riders in the .Dominion will be taking part, champions such as Bright, who deadhetated with Walker in the last 1 1-maru-Christchurch race; W. Mackie, winner of the same race in 1d2.1, Nicholson, of Wanganui present road champion of Now Zealand, and otliei good riders, W. J. Hi , Nakivell, Laskv and L. Rae, of Christchurch, and W. Hill, of Auckland, also D. Hepburn and N. Hepburn and 1 Robson of Greemneadows, Napier, and J. Allen, of Hastings who .is well known, throughout the Dominion for his success in long distance riding. Then there is a. team coming from New Plymouth and besides this there will be about 2j local lideis its several new riders have just joined the c-lub and intend taking part in the big event. Tlie club has placed the duties of time-keep ng in the. hands ot Mr. Stoneham who is having the watches officially tested and the Gisoorne people will be able to rely upon having the correct time taken. the course is also to be officially checked and surveyed and riders can rely on having to cover just the correct distance.’ The course around Wailurcie is without doubt the best course in the district, all level and good road and very little new metal.-The pub lie should get a good yiew ter. ■■ .—-
