WOMEN WITH SCANTY ATTIRE „TURNED BACK.

(A. and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, Sept. 6.

The “Daily Chronicle’s” Rome correspondent says Cardinal V.anutclli, following up the Pope’s condemnation of women’s scanty attire, stationed a sexton at each entrance to his basilica, with orders only to allowwomen clad in long sleeves and highnecked dresses to enter. The sexton s inspected every worshipper, and turned back dismayed women who wore short skirts aiid sleeveless or collarless dresses. The Church authorities state that similar measures will be extended to allt Roman Catholic churches until women return to more modest attire.
