RUGBY.
NOTES AND NEWS. A par in the Christchurch Star: ‘Wanted Tho Canterbury team coached by someone who understands modern football methods.” The Star surely would not bar members ol the Management Committee from a little limelight. Coaches are usually members of the Management Committee, who perhaps played one representative game for Bush Districts against King Country in 1872. The older they are the better qualified they are to teach modern Rugby tactics. That’s why C. G. Porter'is not coach to the Wellington representative team.
The AVairoa rep. football team had a very successful and extensive tour of the North Island, having won six out of its seven games, the only loss being the game against Waikato. This match was lost by five- to nine points, and several of the- team were badly limping when they went on the ground , so that the touring party can be justly proud of its record.—Star.
