MR. AITKEN AND HIS SOLEMN DECLARATION.
(TO THE EDITOR.) Sir, —I wish to commend the correrpondents who have sought-, through your columns, to publicly protest against the doctrines that are being published by the Rev. .James Aitkcr:. T would respectfully submit that the main question at issue is this: What right has he, or any other Presbyterian minister, to ridicule and scoff at the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments ? Page S- of the rtatement of th Reformed Faith a? held by the Presbyter inn Church of New Zealand states: “We believe that God. . . has made gracious and cleaver revelations of Himself to men of God, who spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. . We receive a.s the Word of God and onlv infallible rule of faith and life, the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. Wo believe t.licv were given, bv inspiration of God to he the faithful'record of His gracious revelations and as the sure witness to Christ.” This statement was issued l\v authority of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Now Zealand and was adopted on the motion of the Pev. Dr. Gibb in 1909. T.n view of this official declaration of the: highest Court of the Presbyterian Cluirch of New Zealand, I respectfully ask: What right has the rev. gent'emnn tc tear the Bible to P’cco’, when bv bis ordination vows as a Pre'bvteria I’. 1 ’. minister he has, by solemn declaration, “reeved” the HdTv .Scriptures of the Old and > «*w r JV'.tanionN as -‘tho omy infallible rule of faith and- life?” If the-rev. rrpntloman no longer holds the faith ol the church then there is only ouo honorable course open for him to follow. _I am, ■ vont "’,,^ ESBYTERIA^;>
