IN REPLY TO “LUX”

(TO THE EDITOR.)

Sir, —I havo not seen all the corrcs>-'-poHdeneo that has been published in your columns connected w-tli Mr. W. j-j ack and var.ous others, but my attention has been drawn to a statement made by “Lux” concerning the second coming of Jesus Christ. As. this is a subject in which 1 am much interested and about which I claim to know, something, 1. trust you will allow me a littlespace in order that i may try to give “Lux” a litt.e more “light” on the matter and at the same t ine show that Mr. Black s second argument “does not crash just as badly as the first.” Space will not allow me to deal as fully with the subject in your columns as I did from the pulpit at the Tabernac’e last Sunday, but, briefly, the facts are as follows: The coming of Jesls Christ will take iilnce in two stages. .Tie will come first into the region of the a : r and “the dead in Christ” and the “living true Christians” shall be “caught ur>” to meet Him “in the air.” See T lies Salomons 4 verse 13 to end and note verse lb, where Paul gives us his authority for making thl.< statement: “This I say unto you by the word of the Lord.” After the Christians are caught away, a. period of some years elapses, during' which time the Great Days of Trihulat oii and much that is spoken of in the Book of the Revo’ation of Jesus Christ takes place and then Jesus comes visibly to the earth to Mt. Olivet, as proohesised in Zechnriah 14 verses 4 and 5 and as promised in Acts, l_ver.se 10. The Millenium Kingdom will he se,t up at this time, hut space will not permit me to gVo details now.

1 say this much in order that I may point out to “Lux” that the passages he refers to in Mr. Black’s letter— Luke 17 verses 31-36 and Matthew 24 verses 40-41—apply to the first stage of the Lord’s corning. Any unprejudiced reader hearing these facts in mind will sujely agree with me (rnd thus d’ffer with “Lux”! in th liking that Duke is to he complimented on his nbi'ity to state a. pouit c'errlv. Luke ■ inspired, by the Holy Spirit, and thus well aware of the fret that the world is not flat, points cut that, when the Lord comes suddenly for H’s tree believers, .“two” shall he in one bed (tli : s shows that it w'll bo night in eye portion of the world) “two” shall be grinding at the mill (this reference is to the preparing of the morning or evening men 1 and thus shows that : n another portion of the wor d if will h° morn'ng or even n r ’ when Jesus ChrCt comes); “two” shall he in the field (this speaks to tis of the tune he : ng the workday part of the 24 hours, in another portion of the world when the believers will 1)0 eepght up). Mr. Blndj thus right 1 ;- the reference from Luke and Matthew’s writings to emphasise liis contont'en that the inswred writers of the Bihkv were not hr lie vers in a “flat world. ’ 4 s regards He rest of the controversy : f “Lux” will tell us whether nr not lio believes in the fact of the Virgin Birth and also that Jesus is the Chrst. the Son of God, we will km w whether or not his views concerning the supposed “mistakes” in the B'ble are worth cons'dcring. "Will he g ; ve us this information in a. p’ain straightforward way?*—-I am, yours, etc., F. A. CRAWSHAW.
