Tho ‘‘Daily Mail” states that the death of Malicrv and Irvine was foretold by the abbot of Rongbuk, a deformed high lama, credited v,itli the possession of second sight. He warned the porters that a. further assault on Everest would he attended by disaster because though the spirit of the mountain had been merciful Tip to tint time it would, wreak vengeance on future disturbers of his eternal peace. It is significant that after this warning the porters were disinclined to make a long ascent, suggesting that their morale was affected. —Sun Cable.
