A Sydney cable records the death of A. J. McCabe, a member of the famous “Wallaby” Rugby team. According to a Sydney cable the Packloir-Felton sculling race has been definitely fixed for August 12. A New York cable announces the death of Edward Henry Peple, playwright, aged 55 years. Air. and Airs. AYalter Barker and Aliss M. Barker and Air. A. G. Jeffrey, of Gisborne were passengers by the s.s. Remuera, which left Wellington for London on Tuesday. The Prime Aliuister was not in the House yesterday. He has been suffering from a chill caught during the bitter weather at Sir AA alter Buchanan’s funeral. As he has not been able to shake off the effects of the chill, lie is staying indoors. There passed away at her residence, Stout Street, yesterday morning Aliss Rosie, a highly esteemed and wellknown resident of Gisborne. Aliss Rosie, who experienced but a brief illness, underwent a serious operation , on? Tuesday, and passed away peacefully yesterday morning. Aliss Rosie was born in Scotland, and came out to Now Zealand with her parent* mauy years back. The family settled in Gisborne about 42 years ago. Aliss Rosie was engaged in an active business life until about five years ago. Slio was of a quiet retiring disposition, and was beloved by many friends, having associated herself with Christian work in the community and missionary enterprise in many foreign fields. The interment will be of a private nature. Much sympathy will be extended to the relatives of the family, who are mainly resided at Gisborne* y
