TVELLIXGTOX. June 10. Before the Conciliation Council proceedings came to a standstill this morning in the dispute between me Xew Zealand Ironmasters' and Amalgamated Engineers’ Unions. Included in the unions cited as amalgamated was the Auckland Union, which has, according to the assessors, not amalgamated since the Federation of Unions went out of existence at the end of last year. This fact was taken advantage of to hold up the proceedings, and the discussion of the dispute on a Dominion basis, which the union representatives objected to, preferring that local disputes filed by the union should proceed. After a good deal of discussion the proceedings were adjourned till this afternoon.

Later. U lien tlie Conciliation Court resumed re the Dominion engineers’ dispute, it was intimated that the employees representatives’ were prepared to go on with discussing the employers’ claim.

Wages of journevmen should be 2s per hour, machinists on planing, slotting or shaping machines to receive Is 101 d per hour, neat money at the rate of 2s per hour extra was provided for. In their counter claims the union asked for a 40-hour week . to be worked on five days a week. ' Under ;-wages- 5 heading the union asked that the minimum, ratss of wages to bo paid pattern makers, litters, turneIs .’ gunsmiths , blacksmiths, toolmakers, etc., should be £5 10s week. ' 1
