SAVING OUR SKINS

WONDERS OF SUNLIGHT.

STUFFY CLOTHING

LONDON. May 24

Dr Rollior, director o'f Swiss helioLh era pic institutions, emphasising, at the health conference at Wembley, the power of the sun to cure tuberculosis, pointed out that the skin was not only an organ of protection, hut was also an organ of respiration, nutrition, and elimination ; but it was largely atrophied by the wearing of unhygienic, clothes. The sun’s direct action on the skin produced increased resistance to disease, and created muscular development and the improvement of the whole frame.

He advocated additional institutions for the treatment of tuberculosis, and said that he was of the opinion that i'f former tuberculosis patients were settled in a place where light and air was obtainable they would produce a stronger and better race.
