HUMPHREY BISHOP CO

MUSIC AND MIRTH AT OPERa HOUSE,. Last evening despite counter attractions the Humphrey Bishop Comedy and Operatic Company played their fourth night in Gisborne and as on the preceding evening the spacious Opera House was crowded to the doors. The programme of the previous night .was repeated with even greater success, double and treiue encores being the order of the evening. The comedians, Edward Elliott, Robert Roberts, and George Ross, caused continuous laughter, and the humorous side was also assisted by Harry Avondale at the piano. The vocalists Maurice Jaffey and Walter Kingsley added their quota, to the success of the evening. Ngaire Phipson, Lalie Whyte, Marie Oowtlier and Mahana Ney were each very popular with the audience, as shown by the prolonged applause iii each case., To-night the company wall conclude their Gisborne season, when an entire change of programme will be given, except that in response to numerous requests Edward Elliott will sing his famous song “T Always Have a Glass of Milk Before I Go to Bed”. New songs (humorous and sentimental) new dances, new. comedy work, now rags by the Ragtime Quartette, and new experiences of “Sunshine James” the living doll of the popular ventriloquist Edward Elliott, will be the order of the evening. In view of tho crowded attendances each evening intending patrons are urged to book at Muir’s early this morning.
