PALACE THEATRE.

HELENE CHADWICK IN GIMME” JOSEPH DOWLING IN “THE KENTUCKY COLONEL.”

The new programme shown at the Palace Theatre yesterday is, as usual a double feature bill, and it is headed by the superb production of Rupert Hughes’ great story “Gimune” which is played by Helene Chadwick, Gaston Glass, H. B. Walthall, Eleanor Boardman and about thirty other well known players: It- is a story of young married life told in the best manner of Rupert Hughes, who seems to know all there is to know about the domestic life of the girl who married, because she had an idea that it was a ha.ppy proposition. There- is, in the story no doubt that the girl loves her husband, and that he. loves her. But he is of t-lici opinion that every Woman has the “Gimmes.” She ‘starts with “Gimme a kiss.” That, is one of tho “Gimme” starting posts. The heroine, Fanny, comes to the- city from 1 a school of Design, and by her charm wins over Claude Lambert, an interior decorator who dees not need assistance but wants Fanny. Fanny’s first play at the Lambert studios is for Clinte Ferris, who comes with his wealthy mother to do business. And despite the- opposition of his mother, and tho jealousy of Lambert, Fanny’s love affair developos into a secret marriage. Her husband is disinherited and has to go to work. Fanny without money for a trousseau borrows five hundred dollars from. Lambert who, all unsuspecting lias his own designs over her. So far things have happened that makes life a delightful picnic. But the money side of marriage crops up. and Fanny he:-, comes a “Gimme.” There are two sub plots to the play that keep the spectators merry and also intensely interested. The five act story of “The Kentucky Colonel,” the Hallroom Boys comedy “Meet my Wife,” the Sel'zniek News, and the Chester Outing scenic film are also pleasing subjects on the programme. A matinee will he hold to-day at-2p.m. Tho plan is at, Muirs.
