When Arthur Hart, of Stockwell, S.W., was summoned at York for Working an unfit horse, it was stated that the horse since its detention, by tho police had eaten in four days

. The Bench ordered the horse to he destroyed. On Hart pleading that this meant the loss of his livelihood, as the horse worked a small roundabout, with which ho toured villages, the case was adjourned. Hart said ho had come from London, nearly 200 miles, with the horse, at the rate of 8 miles a day, himself walking all the way. Tho chairman gave him 10s. •
