Advices from False Pass (Alaslm) state that Major Frederick Martin, tire missing United States globe commander, was seen 100 miles west of Chignik, seven hours after taking the air from Onignik on Wednesday. a search is being vigorously pressed.— A. and N.Z.O.A.
PRESS TAKES OVER TRANSCONTINENTAL WIRES.

A despatch from Toronto says that with two dissentients a meeting of newspaper publishers of Ontario and Quebec, members of the Canadian Press decided to • adopt the _ recommendations of the hoard of directors,, arid absorb the 50,000 dollars annual grant by the Dominion Government, which was cancelled last session. The newspapers of Canada thus decided as a whole, to carry at their own expense the trans-Continental leased wires linking east and west. -Renter. INDIAN TARIFF.
