NEW DIABETES CURE.

INSULIN WILL NOT CURE ALL CASES. BANTING’S ADMISSION. LONDON, July 26. Dr. Banting admits there are certain types of diabetes for widely insulin in its present state is useless, also others where it is actually harmful. There is a long way to travel. Wo have still to discover, for instance, the cause of diabetes. Many doctors seemed eager to know whether it had been found practicable for patients to administer insulin themselves. Tic did* nob see any reason why there should not. be related the case of an American commercial traveller, who carried his own insulin and made injections every morning and night with as little inconvenience as shaving.

REMEDY IN USE IN DUNEDIN. DUNEDIN, July 27. To the Hospital Board meeting .the Medical Superintendent wrote that a commencement had been made at tin* hospital with insulin treatment. Dr. Drcnnan, of the pathological laboratory, had charge o£ the distribution on "behalf of the central department, ft was understood that within two or three months sufficient insulm would be available for all cases, and r.liat three other base hospitals in Now Zealand would also undertake the treatment. According to the stipulations it will lie necessary for the hospital to undertake the'treatment of all patients from Tiinaru to the Bluff, iff. had no data as to the number of diabetes patients who would require treatment, hut Dr. Brennan lead informed him that an extra ward woulc. probably ho necessary. _ t Tt was resolved to complete too ■Alexandra Ward without delay.—F.A.
