FEDERAL BUDGET.
PROBLEM OF AIR CONTROL. (Received July 27. 12.-5 a.m.) AIELBOURNE. July 26. In the House of Representatives Dr. Earl Page delivered his Budget speech.. He stated- that although there was an estimated deficit of £2.705.443 on last year’s Budget, savings in departmental expenditure and increases in receipts from Cusi toms and excise had resulted in a sm , 1 plus of £1.020.150. The total revenue for the vear amounted to £64.720.635. and ‘the expenditure to £63.700.485. The finances of the year had increased on the anticipated' amount by '£3.72-5 - •j 93. and the accumulated surplus revenue was now £7.428.574. The total estimated expenditure for the coniinea ear is £61.896.093, a decrease oc £1,804.38/ on last year s figures. The estimated revenue amounted to £61.943.200. or £2.27/.385 less than last year. Other figures forecasted are se tar* unchanged. .It is unofficially stated that the government has decided to scrap the contentious Air force Bill and* substitute in its pmee a measure emancipating the Air Force from the --oi Gi Army headquarters.
