| ANNUAL MEETING. j There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Poverty Bay Alotor Association, held in the F.U. Rooms yesterday afternoon, Air. J. C. Field presiding. The chairman in his opening remarks referred to the lack of interest •' taken in affairs of the Club for some • time past, owing no doubt, to the ' financial difficulties with which the majority of people had been faced ; of late. Nevertheless, the Club’s past activities had amply justified its existence. The balance sheet snowed a , credit- of £3 2s sd. Not much work ■ had been done during the year, but j in previous years the Club had made j its existence felt when necessary and ; had been productive of much good j work. i The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The N.Z. Automobile Union forwarded a request for the Association’s subscription, £lO. On the sug- : gestiou of Mr. H. F. l ust 10. On the motion of Messrs. C. Fenwick and V. Barker, Mr. G. AJ. l Reynolds, who it was stated would be ; attending the Counties’ Conference ; at the time, was appointed. In connection with the proposed reduction of subscription, Archdeacon Williams moved and Mr. G. Nicliolls seconded, that the subscription remain at £1 Is per annum. Air. Fenwick moved an amendment ; that the subscription be fixed at Bis. j Air. Alander seconded the amendi ment. j Air. V. Barker agreed that it' was 1 desirable to effect an increase in . tiie membership, but ‘if motorist* I would take any interest at all in the Association they would be willing to pay £1 Is. It was the desire of all : of them that the Association should . grow and become a potent force, in ■ bis opinion the projiosal to lower the subscription was a retrograde step. Mr. L. T. Barnard said that out of the subscriptions would have to conn* ; the Association’s fee to the- N.Z. ; Uiylon. Pie thought that they should point out to the Union that the As- \ seciation had only a small member- • slap, and suggest that the annual fee i might be reduced. I The chairman thought that the member’s subscription was not a large one in view of the benefits received. The amendment was withdrawn, . and the original motion was carried.

Mr. Nicliolls said that Mr. W. E. Cedar wall wished to apologise for bis non-attendance, but be was away in Australia. He would always he willing to do all be could to advance the interests of the Association. The chairman said that there had recently been some trouble about leaving cars about the streets. The trouble was that there was no proper system of parking. If the Association took action or put forward some suggestion, to meet the difficulty it would -be doing a good service to the community in general. Motorists were very careless in the manner in which tiie\* parked their cars. It was decided that the committee draw up parking proposals for submission to the Town Coureii. Mr. Forster referred to the danger of cyclists not having tail lights or reflectors. Ho would move that the •Council be asked to frame a by-law making the carving of rear reflectors on cveles compulsory. The motion was carried. > Mr. M. T. Alander. spoke of the importance of the Coast road, and moved that the Highways Board include the Gisborne-Hicks Bay road in the list of -main highways. The motion was- carried ■ without dissent—
