HOSPITAL BUILDINGS.

FURTHER TROUBLE WITH WALLS. Tho unsatisfactory condition of the Hospital buildings was again referred to at the meeting of the Board yesterday, when a letter from tho Board’s architects, Messrs. Burr and Mirfield, was considered. Tho letter stated that the firm’s representative had visited the Hospital and found that in wards 4 and 0 water was coming through the walls and running on to the floors. 111 ward 5 a bulge in the plaster broke when touched, and water spurted out on to the floor. In this ward, some of tho plaster was pulverised. The enamel in ward 4 was damaged by the water percolating through walls. Mr. Mirfield, who was in attendance, stated that the walls would never be satisfactory until they were plastered on the outside. As regarcis the roof, much relief would be afforded by the cleaning out of the gutters," but it would never be satisfactory until the tiles were pulled off and replaced by a new roof. The Board then adjourned to inspect the damage to the walls. On the resumption of the meeting, the chairman said that lie thought they should hold the, matter over until next meeting, tho most urgent wg'.Jvr to bo proceeded with in the meantime. Mr. DeCosta moved that the chairman go down to Wellington and ask that the Department give some relief in putting the building in order, seeing that its present condition was due to the fault of the Department n passing the plans in the first place. This was carried, it being decided that the Board’s architect should accompany the chairman to Wellington.
