America and Hawaii liavo cabled Australia, asking that the match against Hawaii be played at Honolulu. Australia is opposed to this, on account of the fortnight’s delay entailed in breaking the journey, also because Anderson is not used to an asphalt court, which would necessitate a chauge of strokes. It is also contended that by playing in America the Australians would have an opportunity to practice on grass courts. The draw for the first round is Australia v. Hawaii and Canada v. Japan. A general meeting of the Otago Boxing Association was held to-night to consider what steps should he taken in view of the disqualification of the executive by the New Zealand Boxing Council. The president and executive decided to resign in a body and a new chairman was appointed, for the meeting. A provisional committee was then set up from members of the association not concerned in the disqualification, and the meeting then authorised this provisional committee to apply for re-affiliation to the Boxing Council. —P.A. MEN’S TRIAL MATCH. A trial match was played on the Reserve yesterday afternoon, the teams’ being selected from the players in the senior competition, and resulted in a win for the "B” team by two goals to one. Owing to the fact that the players were not in their accustomed positions, there was in some cases a noticeable lack of combination, but some good individual play was witnessed, and, after a season of club hockey, the province should again be represented in the inter-provincial matches by a strong team. In the first spell, the advantage was fairly even and it was only after hard play that -Bile!iff was able to net the ball toy the “A" team. In the second half', the play was vigorous and after much solid attacking the “B” forwards got into the enemy circle and Armstrong found the net. The same player later in the spell got a lucky opening and was able to score again, bringing the score to 2-1 in favor of the “B'.s.” at which figure the closing whistle found the game. Messrs. Henderson and St übbiugs were in charge of the whist'lcJUNIOR GRADE. Defence ”A” defeated Defence "B” after a game lacking any outstanding features of merit. tion that passages for the New Zealand team to leave for Australia next Friday had been secured. All transport arrangements at this end had been made, including assembling the team in Wellington, but the Shippiny 'Coy. had advised that no passages had been booked. The chairman said the position was a grave one and most unbusiness like. It was decided to send a cable that if the berths are not secured by Saturday the team will he withdrawn. —P.A. Hannah, Kershaw, English, Benny, Robinson; referee: Mr. Biggar.
