ADMIRAL CODRINGTON ARRIVES

- A ROUGH TRIP

The P.B. Farmers’ Meat Co.’s steamer, Admiral Ccdrington, arrived at Gisborne yesterday morning from ■ CardifC after a trip in which rough weather was experienced and considerable delay occasioned thereby. The vessel left Cardiff on February Is,;and almost immediately ran into very heavy weather, the worst, states the master (Captain Forbes), that he had ever encountered in the, Atlantic. A very severe buffeting was received from the gale, which lasted for 12 days, .but the vessel rode the 'stomp out well, though the engines at times required careful handling to prevent injury from the propellors racing when exposed by the storing No damage was sustained, however, and they were at no time forced to heave to. The Admiral Codrington reached Panama on March 15, and the following day began her voyage across the Pacific, where fairly good weather was experienced. The actual steaming time for the trip from Cardiff to Gisborne was 57 days. The vessel loaded a large quantity of bunker coal at Cardiff, and this is expected to be sufficient to keep her going during her loading operations in New Zealand waters, aiul to take her os far as Monte Video on the Homeward voyage. She is to commence to-day to load frozen meat, •wool, and general cargo at .Gisborne and from here proceeds to Napier and Wellington to continue loading, probably returning later to Gisborne, to complete. She is loading now for Alanchested, Liverpool, Glasgow, and London.
