ETHEL CLAYTON IN “A CITY SPARROW” 3IADGE KENNEDY ‘ ‘STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL.’’

Commencing at the matinee to-day a large and varied programme of picked subjects will be submitted at the Palace Theatre. The double features will be “A Cftv Sparrow” with Ethel Clayton in the leading role, and “Strictly Confidential” with the popular Madge Kennedy in the stellar character. The supporting films include Eddie Polo in the seventh episode of the thrilling serial story “King of the Circus” the latest Christie cornedy, “For Better or Worse” which comes with the reputation of being two reels of continuous laughter. “-Canadian Steel” a bfg industrial subject, the English Topical Budget, and some scenic studies. “A City Sparrow” shows Ethel Clayton in the role of an apache dancer. She has.. according to all newspaper critics, the most sympathetic role she has ever essayed and its strength and appeal is remarkable. An unusually capable supporting company headed by Clyde Filmore appears in the cast. “Strictly Confidential” is a play of tears and gaiety. Madge Kennedy appears as Fanny O’German, the daughter of a butler at Bantock Castle. He is descendant of a long line of servants at the castle. Reared in London, the girl has all the fondness for gaiety that p happy nature allows. But returning to Ireland, she is oppressed by the rigid rules at the castle. She returns to London a marries a young landscape painter to escape the temptations which beset the majority of girls in a big city.
