FURTHER BUSINESS BAST WEEK. The first meeting of* the Hawke’s Bay Education Board for the year was held at Napier on Thursday last., there being present—Messrs. G. F. Roach (chairman), J. R. Kirk, J. SCHOOL COMMITTEE CORRESPONDENCE.

Wairoa: For asbestos screens over windows.—To be informed that these are not recommended by Department.

Kaiti: For removal of out-offices, even if tender not accepted for drainage.—Referred to architect. Matawai.—For subsidy .' towards cost of erecting hoarded fence, and also .towards cost of removing silt from hack of school.—Granted.

Tologa Bay: For supply of cn.,n desks.—Left to architect. .Wairoa: For new blinds.; —Granted Wairoa: For additional accommodation.—Referred to chairman. witJi power to act. Malcaraka.—Urging necessity for residence at Makarnka.—To be brpught before Minister on his visit to*Napier next week.

Opoutama.—Re overcrowding of school.—Application to -be made to Department. GENERAL CORRESPONDENCE. Department: Approving grant mi certain conditions for establishment of school at Bay. Reasonable lease to be obtained.

Department withdrawing decision to cut out hoard and conveyance allowances to 'children attending secondary departments of District High Schools.

Department: Stating that grant cannot he made for erection of new school at Reay Bridge, but that it is willing to issue Debentures to residents for tlie cost or to pay rent for the building if the residents erect it. Residents, Reav Bridge: Agreeing to take debentures for £470, cost of school.
