BOXINU

CADET CHAMPIONSHIPS

Permission has now been given for the holding of a boxing tournament, under the auspices of the Gisborne Boxing Association, in the Garrison Hall on Wednesday next and the following Wednesday. The competition has been arranged for senior cadets, and will he an inter-company competition for a shield, the winner of each class being presented with a medal. Teams will compete from the two local companies, and from the High School and Waerenga-a-hika .Native College, making four teams. As there are eight different classes, there will be 32 competitors participating. Owing to the large number of entries, it has been found impossible to conclude the, competition in one evening, and the tournament will, therefore, be spread over the two nights. Considerable interest was evidenced over the preliminary bouts for the selection of the teams, and some good exhibitions were given on Thursday night, when the teams to represent Nos. 67 and 7 Companies were selected.
