LOCAL UNION RESOLUTIONS

DISAPPROVAL OF ARBITRATION COURT.

A representative meeting of the P.B. and E.C. Shearers’ and Woolshed Employees Industrial Union of Workers was held in the Labor Council Chambers, when the position in connection with the shearing industry was considered and the following resolutions carried: — (1) This meeting of Poverty Bay and East Coast Shearers exEresses its disapproval of the Aritration Court’s method of making an award applicable to this or any other district, without first having sat and settled the dispute in the district to be governed by such award. (2) That this meeting unanimously resolves that we have no further confidence in the present Arbitration Court as now constituted, and urge .upon organised Labor throughout Poverty lay to take action to fight against the organised efforts of the sheepowners union and all similar bodies to lower the standard of living of the shearers and workers in general, this meeting represents the opinions of Maoris and Pakehas alike. (3) That this meeting of Poverty Bay and East Coast shearers has every confidence in Mr Whyte the organiser for the New Zealand Workers’ Union and commends him for the stand he has
